About this Vehicle
BMW M3 Cecottos were a homologation special over and above the first 5000 M3s made meaning there were only 505 of these cars made worldwide - 10% of that initial 5000. These homologation road cars were necessary for a manufacturer to make in order to then qualify for racing or rallying in the ‘80s and ’90s. M3 Cecottos had a higher spec than normal M3s with added spoilers front and rear, a different plenum chamber, injectors, suspension, thinner glass etc all for an advantage on the race track. BMW promptly won the 1989 DTM with this exact specification of car. This was the last of the 2.3 litre engine E30 M3s with this car being ordered with nearly every extra available; full motorsport leather, air con, electric windows, on board computer, heated front seats, rear head rests etc. It rolled off the line on June 13th 1989 and delivered to a lucky owner on June 22nd 1989 at BMW Niederlassung un Frankfurt. It was imported into the UK in 1994 with the current owner buying it in 1999.
